Nathan Overberg 1994

The Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute (GDMLI) honors six individuals annually for their contributions to the community; five of which must be GDMLI alumni. Attorney Nathan Overberg of Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. received the 2016 Inspiring Award at the Leadership Institute’s annual Leadership Awards Luncheon on May 19. Nathan is a GDMLI alumnus from the class of 2009-2010.

In her nomination of Nathan, Amy Stapp-Arpy, Chief Development Officer, Children & Families of Iowa, said, “Nathan has been a great asset to the Foundation for Children & Families of Iowa’s Board of Trustees in his many roles including but not limited to Board president and committee chair for several committees. He has inspired fellow board members and community leaders to volunteer through his hard work in advocacy, participation in special projects and at events. His commitment to Children & Families of Iowa has been consistent over his six years of service on the board, always willing to take on extra roles and projects with enthusiasm and inspiration. Nathan has invested in our programs and mission of restoring hope, building futures and changing lives.

Nathan, a shareholder at Ahlers & Cooney, practices law in the areas of Urban Renewal & Economic Development, Employment, and Higher Education.

Nathan and wife Kathryn live with their two children in Ankeny.
