Alan Van Zee 1979

I work as the director of music ministries at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii and live in nearby Lawai. About the same time I started my job at the church, I met another new staff member named Beth Debrey from nearby Kapaa, who works as the Church Administrator. Some months later we were talking and discovered that we were fellow Midwesterners; myself from Iowa and she from nearby Rock Island, Illinois. In further conversation we discovered that Beth attended Central College’s London Study Abroad Program in 1977. As it turns out, I missed meeting my new co-worker by just two years as I was hired by the college in 1979 to be their London residence director, where I remained until 1984. We both lived at 7 Bedford Place two years apart. What a small world!

That’s neat, Alan. So nice to see that you are in music ministry. In some circles, I am still know as “Carol Locker’s sister!”

I was at 7 Bedford Place 80-81 and remember Alan from London and the Gator Ski Club at Central. You’re looking good, buddy!
    I miss the Trifle!

HI Alan – I am your Dad’s first cousin. What fun to read of you running into a person w/ a Central connection. We have run into Central grads in Mexico, Europe East Coast etc. They are a special group of people w/ a great “bond!”

Glad to know that former student from the talented 1970 Prairie City Eighth Grade Chorus is still involved in music! Proud of you, Alan! My wife and I were in Lihue in October…if only we would have known you were so close.

So glad to see Alan doing well and looking well. I remember Alan fondly from 7 Bedford Place in Fall 1981 and Spring 1982.
