In recognition of her distinguished achievement in original research, Pam was elected to the National Academy of Sciences. She is a distinguished professor and curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida. Among her most cited contributions are papers on plant evolution and on the role of genetic and genomic attributes in the success of polyploids.
Much of her current work focuses on plant diversity and conservation in Florida. She is the author of over 400 publications including seven books. Her work is funded by the National Science Foundation. At the University of Florida, Pam is director of the newly formed Biodiversity Institute and a member of the graduate Council and the Genetics Institute’s Executive Committee.
Pam went on to receive her doctorate degree from the University of Kansas after graduating from Central College. She lives with husband Doug in Gainesville.
