Brandon is a fish, wildlife, and habitat project leader for Meskwaki’s Department of Natural Resources in Tama, Iowa, where he manages the natural resources of the Meskwaki Settlement via prescribed fire, invasive species removal and conducts surveys and inventories. Additionally, Brandon takes care of the Tribe’s buffalo herd and performs outreach activities with the community.
Jessica is a land projects assistant for Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation in Des Moines, where she helps write and monitor conservation easements and assists with land transactions all over Iowa.
Brandon’s memorable moments as a Central student include attending cross-country and track meets. He recalls being a part of multiple team conference championships, annual training/team bonding excursions to Colorado with his cross-country teammates and exploring the Lake Red Rock area.
Jessica’s memorable moments as a Central student include working at the field station, traveling to Costa Rica/Belize for tropical ecology and playing in the orchestra for Candlelight concerts.
After graduation from Central, Brandon worked several temporary jobs with the Iowa DNR Wildlife Bureau and ran the Boston Marathon. Jessica finished a master’s degree in biology and worked a couple temporary jobs. They were married July 16, 2016 after meeting at Central in 2012. They’ve traveled to 11 states, five national parks, caught five Cubs games at Wrigley Field and hiked too many natural areas in Iowa to count!
