Dominic ’10 and Sarah Benson Baldi 2013

Sarah taught German at the University of Missouri while attending grad school. She also has volunteered her time helping refugees work toward gaining citizenship by teaching them English. Currently Sarah is teaching English at a language center at Philipps University in Marburg, Germany. She would love to continue to stay in Germany teaching English or return to the United States and teach high school German.

Dominic worked at Goodwill Industries as a job coach and at DMACC teaching English as a Second Language until he and Sarah relocated to Germany. He hopes to teach English in Germany to refugees and immigrants and possibly develop a language program.

Sarah’s most memorable experience through Central was while studying abroad in Vienna, Austria. The opportunity to study abroad was the main reason Sarah decided to attend Central College. Another memorable experience was when she was accepted to present her research at a Midwestern psychology conference in Chicago. Sarah also enjoyed her years at Central, where she made some very good friends including Sara Phillips who was her maid of honor. One of Domini’s most memorable moments at Central was when he tossed his German professor into the fountain outside the library on her birthday. Dominic also went to Chicago to visit a Christkindelmarkt with the German club during a blizzard. Another memorable moment for Dominic was organizing game night for the language houses.
