An associate professor of theater at Missouri Valley College, Harold is the recipient of the John McCallum Excellence in Teaching Award, which was presented to him at the Missouri Valley College Recognition Banquet in May.
After graduating from Central College, where he majored in theater, Harold received his M.F.A. in directing from the University of South Dakota.
Previously Harold served as theater department coordinator at Midland Lutheran college, director of theater at Dakota Wesleyan University and Chadron State College, acting managing producer at The University of South Dakota, and as a visiting artist in residence at Drake University.
Hynick is actively involved in the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. He has been a respondent in regions V and VI since 1997 and has served Region V as a workshop presenter, an Irene Ryan judge, a member of the Regional Selection Committee, and as Coordinator and Host for The Showcase of Invited Scenes. In 2009 he performed in a reading of the National Science Award winning play The Atlas of Mud at the regional festival. His production of The Tempest received a Meritorious Achievement Award, and a scene from his production of Endgame performed in the Showcase of Invited Scenes. Currently he serves on the Region VI Regional Committee as the Missouri State Chair, and as the Coordinator of the LMDA/KCACTF Student Dramaturgy Initiative and Coordinator of the O’Neill Critic’s Institute.
