Among the improvements made at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex in recent months is a new entryway to Ron and Joyce Schipper Stadium. On October 24, the area was dedicated as Heritage Plaza, in honor of Mark ’64 and Kay ’63 De Cook, Bruce ’63 and Sandy ’62 Heerema, all of Pella, and their families. Mark and Bruce, who both starred on Central football squads in the early ‘60s and later served on the college’s board of trustees, partnered to create Heritage Lace in 1983. It’s now one of Pella’s most successful firms.
Their sons, Tim Heerema ’88 and Daniel De Cook ’95, now serve as the company’s co-CEOs and are members of Central’s board of trustees.
