Baseball Team Set Records During Winning Season

The Central baseball team earned a league tournament berth for the seventh time in eight years.

Central’s 22-19 mark made the team’s six seniors the winningest class in school history with 83 victories over four seasons. The Dutch set 11 school records during the 2011 campaign.

Three underclassmen earned all-Iowa Conference recognition. Junior shortstop Mike Furlong was named for the third straight year and was a first-team pick, while junior pitcher Joel Pulliam and sophomore center fielder Sam Stetzel were second-team honorees. Senior third baseman Anthony Miller and freshman second baseman Adam Ariola received honorable mentions.
